Counselor Training Procedures and Requirements

Faith Counseling and Training requires candidates to complete our course “The Ministry of Counseling – Rebuilding Biblical Foundations.”  This course is not part of the N.C.C.A. program and does not appear on official transcripts as a credited class.  However, it does lay an important Scriptural foundation for students studying to be a minister of counseling.

The National Christian Counselors Association will not issue their faith based license to anyone who does not hold a bachelors degree or higher.  If no degree is held the N.C.C.A. will issue Certified Pastoral Counselor to the successful candidate.

The N.C.C.A. breaks all programs into phases.  The program consists of phases 1 & 2.  Each phase contains specific requirements that must be completed before moving into the next phase of study.

Phase 1

Courses - Each candidate must complete the following 6 courses:

Complete Practicum and Clinical Supervision – phase 1 requires 10 APS reports.

Faith Counseling and Training has redesigned our clinical supervision process to exceed the NCCA requirements and further benefit students.  Each student will administer the required amount of clinical APS profiles to the clients they are working with.  When the report is processed the clinical supervisor will contact the student to discuss the report with them before they meet with the client.  The student then meets with their client for at least 3-5 sessions.  When this is completed the student is then required to write a case study on the counseling sessions.  The case study format is predesigned with guidelines to protect confidential information.  This assignment later becomes part of the clinical supervision requirements and of the degree requirements if one is chosen.
