License & Ph.D. - Christian Counselor Education Program
This program is designed for individual who already hold a M.A. in counseling or a related field, but want to further their education to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) level and qualify for faith based licensure through the National Christian Counselors Association.
Upon successful completion of this program applicants will gain membership in The National Christian Counselors Association, will qualify to use the A.P.S. profile, be a Certified Temperament Counselor and gain recognition in the N.C.C.A. as a Professional Clinical Member.
In addition applicants who successfully complete the program will also qualify for:
- Ph.D. in Clinical Christian Counseling
- Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor - Advanced Certificate
- Appropriate Board Certification certificates for selected specialty areas
The average time to complete this program is 18-24 months

Pay as you go
Total Program Costs = $7,600.00 (Includes all Tuition, Books, Fees and Matriculation costs)
Breakdown of total cost:
- Application Fee = $100.00
- Tuition $4,300.00 (Cost of ministerial credential class and fees are separate)
- Practicum = $1,050.00 (The practicum consists of administering 10 A.P.S. reports for phase 1, 15 reports for phase 2 under the clinical supervisor and 10 additional reports for the Ph.D. dissertation. This should also be a pass through cost to those receiving the A.P.S. report.)
- Clinical Supervision = $300.00
- FCT student resource fee = $150.00

Procedures and Requirements
Complete Phase 1
Courses - Each candidate must complete the following 5 courses:
- Basic Christian Counseling
- Temperament Theory
- Testing / Measuring
- Temperament Therapy
- Christian Psychology and Counseling
Complete Practicum and Clinical Supervision:
We have recently redesigned our clinical supervision process to further benefit students. Each student will administer the required amount of clinical APS profiles to the clients they are working with. When the report is processed the clinical supervisor will contact the student to walk through the report with them before they meet with the client. The student then meets with their client for at least 3-5 sessions. When this is completed the student is then required to write a case study on the counseling session. The case study format is predesigned with guidelines to protect confidential information. This assignment later becomes part of the clinical supervision requirements and of the degree requirements.
Submit the following:
- Written responses to 50 ethical questions posed by N.C.C.A.'s National Licensing Board of Examiners.
- $50.00 for first year's annual dues. (This is included in the above cost breakdown.)
- A signed application for Certification/Membership form and a signed copy of N.C.C.A.'s Code of Ethical Standards.
- Current photograph and resume
- Three reference letters provided by the N.C.C.A. information packet.
- Phase 1 application for membership
- Written Statement as to "why I want to be a member and certified by the N.C.C.A.
After completing all of the requirements for Phase 1, the candidate will (assuming everything is in order) receive:
- Certified Temperament Counselor and
- Clinical Membership (non-clergy) or Professional Clinical Member (clergy)
Complete Phase 2
Courses - Each candidate must complete the following 4 courses:
- Ministerial Credentials *
- Mastering Pastoral Counseling
- Temperament Case Studies
- Counseling the Codependent
Complete Practicum and Clinical Supervision:

- A signed application for N.C.C.A. License. The notification and Release Form for Personal National Screening. This form authorizes the N.C.C.A. to secure a national background check to verify each candidate's history.
- A licensing fee of $100.00 (This is included in the above cost breakdown)
After successfully completing all of the requirements for Phase 2, the candidate will (assuming everything is in order) receive:
- Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor
Or, if it bests describes the candidates local ministry, he/she may request to be licensed as a Licensed Clinical Christian Counselor (regardless of degree level)
Annual membership and license renewal is required. Membership is $50.00 per year and license renewal is $20.00 per year (total $70.00). A signed affidavit verifying continuing education must be submitted annually for license renewal.
* Candidates who are already ordained, licensed or commissioned as a minister of the gospel are automatically exempt from this course. Candidates who are not already ordained, licensed or commissioned as a minister of the gospel may be required to complete this course through the National Conservative Christian Church and become commissioned as a Minister of Counseling.
Complete Phase 3
Courses - Each candidate must select and complete 12 advanced courses. These can be found under Advanced Certificates.
Complete the following:
- Two copies of a written dissertation. This normally consists of 35 (25 developed from the licensing practicum plus 10 additional) individual reports (case studies) developed from the candidate's work with 35 individuals using the A.P.S. reports. A format is provided in the course titled Temperament Case Studies.
- A letter authorizing the N.C.C.A. to transfer the academic records to the approved college.
- Matriculation and transfer fee of $1,500.00 (This is included in the above cost breakdown)
- $50.00 to upgrade the candidate's license to the Ph.D. level of Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor - Advanced Certificate. (This is included in the above cost breakdown)

- Ph.D. in Clinical Christian Counseling
- Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor - Advanced Certificate
